Check serum vitamin B12 levels, complete blood counts, and how the patient is doing regularly

This happens due to a lack of an intrinsic factor, a protein necessary for B12 absorption in the stomach

Your specialists will design a maintenance therapy of 100 to 200 mcg

Those with Pernicious Anemia This autoimmune condition affects the bodys ability to absorb B12

If your body has trouble absorbing B12 through the digestive tract, injections are especially helpful because they deliver the vitamin directly into your bloodstreambypassing the gut entirely

For the push, I routinely stick (pun intended) to a 23 gauge needle, though your doctor or pharmacist may have their own opinions on needle gauge or even syringe volume
